Health and Human Services Eligibility Access System Project
In 2002 the Florida Health and Human Services Access Act authorized AHCA to develop a comprehensive, automated system for access to health care and human services. This system was to be implemented as a pilot project aimed at testing the feasibility of adopting a statewide 2-1-1 information and referral network capable of supporting the eligibility determination process required for publicly funded health and human services programs. The pilot project was terminated on June 30, 2003 after the partial establishment of the network. Since then no further public funds have been allocated to this program. Regulating the 2-1-1 program remained an agency function until the 2009 Legislature transferred that responsibility to the private sector (see below).
Florida 2-1-1 Provider Network
The 2009 Florida Legislature transferred responsibility for Florida 2-1-1 Provider Network certification from the Agency for Health Care Administration to the Florida Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (FLAIRS) effective July 1, 2009.
All future inquiries regarding 2-1-1 certification and operations should be directed to Bob Arnold, FLAIRS President, at 904-390-3278, email BobA@uwnefl.org, or the FLAIRS website at www.flairs.org.
